BREAKING NEWS: Female evangelist discovered dead in hotel room after sex with Bishop suspect apprehended

The lifeless body of a female evangelist was recently discovered in a hotel room where she reportedly stayed with the Bishop of her church.

The deceased, a 43-year-old woman and mother of five named Happiness Echieze, was an evangelist at Agape Evangelical Ministries (City of Miracles), situated at Obikabia Junction in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

On Thursday, August 12, 2023, around 9:23 pm, Mrs. Echieze and the General Overseer of the ministry, Bishop Timothy Otu, allegedly checked into a hotel called Jubilee Guest House Ovom, Ogborhill, and it is suspected that they engaged in a sexual encounter.

According to reports, Mrs. Echieze’s lifeless naked body was found in the room around midnight after the clergyman had left the hotel without leaving any trace.

In a recent development, the Eastern Ngwa Police Station in Obingwa Local Government reported the arrest of Bishop Otu. The Police revealed that Bishop Otu, who had booked the room with Mrs. Echieze, left the hotel after misleading the receptionist by claiming he was going to buy food at that late hour. A source also disclosed that the hotel manager, suspecting foul play, promptly reported the incident to the Eastern Ngwa Police Station around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning.

“When officers of the Nigerian Police went to the hotel, the woman was lying naked with foam coming out of her mouth and nose,” as reported.

Sources further revealed that text messages on Mrs. Echieze’s phone indicated a romantic relationship between her and the clergyman.

According to a report by Whistler, police officers traced Bishop Otu to his church at Obikabia Junction, attended his Sunday service, and apprehended him after he had preached a sermon about repentance.

Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, while speaking to journalists, disclosed that the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation.

The PPRO also mentioned that Otu of the Agape Evangelical Ministry had been cooperating with the police in their investigation to ascertain the cause of Mrs. Echieze’s death.

In her statement, Chinaka said, “On August 13, 2023, around 9:30 am, Mr. Godwin Akpan residing at Jubilee Guest House in Ovom Village, Obingwa Local Government Area, reported to the Isialangwa Police Division that on the evening of August 12, 2023, around 9:25 pm, a clergyman named Timothy Otu associated with Agape Evangelical Ministry at Obikabia Junction in Obingwa LGA, checked into the guest house along with a woman named Happiness Echieze from Isialangwa LGA, Abia State. Happiness Echieze was 43 years of age.

“Further details provided by Mr. Akpan indicated that on the same date, around midnight, he entered the hotel room of the aforementioned clergyman and discovered the lifeless body of Happiness Echieze. She was found unclothed, and a white substance was emanating from her mouth and nose. Regrettably, the clergyman was absent from the scene.

“Preliminary investigations have been launched into this matter. The deceased’s body has been transported from the location and is currently at the SDA Mortuary in Aba, awaiting an autopsy.

“Additionally, the suspect in this case has been apprehended and the case has been transferred to the State CID for discreet investigations.”

Late Evangelist Happiness hailed from Umuatakawom in Obingwa. Trendyhiphop learned that her husband was at work in Bayelsa State when the unfortunate incident occurred.
