Ramesh Bais Biography
Ramesh Bais is an Indian politician born on August 2, 1947, and presently serving as the 23rd Governor of the state of Maharashtra. Bais had previously served as the Governor of Jharkhand from 2021 until 2023, as well as the Governor of Tripura from 2019 to 2021. This appointment marks his third governorship.
He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and has served in various political roles during his career. During the administration of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he was a Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Environment and Forests.
Bais has been elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, seven times, each representing the Raipur seat. He was a member of the 9th Lok Sabha (1989) and the 11th through 16th Lok Sabhas (1996-2019).
The previous Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, was succeeded on February 12, 2023, by Ramesh Bais, who was nominated for the position.

Private life
Khomlal Bais gave birth to Bais on August 2, 1947, in what was then the state of Madhya Pradesh but is now Chhattisgarh. He graduated from Bhopal School of Education with a degree in Higher Secondary Education. On May 1, 1968, he tied the knot with Rambai Bais. They are parents to a boy as well as two girls. The cultivation of plants is Bais’s chosen line of work.
Education
Ramesh Bais obtained higher secondary education via the B.S.E. institution in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
Political career
In 1978, Bais won his first election to serve on the Municipal Corporation of Raipur. He won the election for MP Assembly from the Mandir Hasod Constituency in 1980. Still, he was defeated in the election for Assembly in 1985 by his opponent from the Congress party, Satyanarayan Sharma.
In 1989, he was chosen to represent the city of Raipur in the Indian parliament for the first time as a member of the 9th Lok Sabha, and he went on to win reelection to the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th Lok Sabhas in rapid succession beginning in 1996.
