Chief Oyibo Chukwu was prominent in Nigerian politics, the legal profession, and business. In the general election of 2023, he was the Labor Party’s candidate for the senate seat representing the Enugu East Senatorial District. He was a member of the Labor Party.

After completing his primary school at St. Patrick School in Abakiliki, Oyibo Chukwu completed his senior education at Government College in Afikpo.

In 1993, he was appointed Interim State Chairman of the SDP after having previously served as a Gubernatorial Aspirant for the SDP in the same state in 1992.

Oyibo Chukwu ran for president on the ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the general election that took place in 1993. In the latter part of 1998, he campaigned to become the Gubernatorial Candidate for the Congress for National Consensus (CNC).

In 1999 and 2000, he was appointed to serve the All-Peoples Party as the party’s Acting National Auditor (APP). Ohaneze Ndi Igbo is an organization that represents the Igbo people in Nigeria. In 2009, that organization gave him the position of Assistant National Legal Adviser.
