Two Tricycle thieves sentenced to 2 yrs imprisonment

On Thursday, two companions were found guilty of stealing a tricycle with a value of N 670,000 and were sentenced to 24 months in jail by an Area Court in Jos.

Hassan Abdullahi, age 30, and Yau Mohammed, age 22, were found guilty of conspiracy and theft, and the judge, Thomas Ajitise, handed down their sentences after they pleaded guilty. They pleaded for the court’s indulgence.

Ajitise granted the convicted individuals the option of paying a fine of N 50,000 apiece.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Labaran Ahmed informed the court that Mr. Adam Shuiabu was the one who first reported the crime to the Laranto police station on January 5.

According to what he heard, the complainant said that the inmates took his tricycle from the place where he had placed it.

In addition, the prosecution informed the court that over the course of the police investigation, the convicted individuals admitted their guilt, and the stolen tricycle was found.

According to him, the crime was in violation of the legislation known as the Plateau Penal Code, which is in effect in Northern Nigeria.
