Thousands of Oyinbo fans erupt in joy as Davido slams the Golden Spike at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Video)

The Assurance crooner became the first African artiste to strike the Atlanta Golden Spike in a multipurpose stadium.

The father of three was observed triumphantly climbing the platform in a t-shirt and denim pants with a wooden hammer.

The Nigerian musician was invited to smash the Golden Spike, a pre-game ceremony performed by MLS team Atlanta United at the Mercedez Benz Stadium.

On his social media account, Davido posted footage of himself and his manager Asa Asika visiting the stadium. The musician was dressed in a t-shirt and slacks and donned a hat as he ascended a podium to hit the spike. Thousands of white fans in the stadium were heard screaming enthusiastically while he was climbing.
