Nigeria’s president, Mohammadu Buhari, has appointed a new poverty committee, with Yemi Osinbajo serving as its chairman.
Buhari inaugurated the National Steering Committee (NSC) of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) on Tuesday in Abuja, with Yemi Osinbajo as its chairman.
In response to his ambition, he promised that his government will strive tirelessly to alleviate poverty in Nigeria.
He stated, in his own words:
“In January 2021, I instructed the chairman of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to collaborate on articulating what will raise 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years.”
“I am pleased to report that the process of developing this comprehensive poverty reduction strategy recognized and rectified past errors while also laying the groundwork for long-term poverty reduction.”
