NEWS: Russia reveals World’s First Coronavirus Vaccine that provides immunity for two years

Russia ‘s president, Vladimir Putin, has declared his nation has officially accepted the world’s first Covid-19 vaccine, claiming he’s tried it on his daughter, and it succeeded.

According to Putin, the vaccine was produced at the Gamaleya Institute in Moscow, with planned large-scale vaccine development starting in September, while mass vaccination could begin as early as October.

The vaccine has been exposed to human trials for only under two months, but Putin spoke to government officials on Tuesday, August 11, saying one of his two daughters is among those who have already received a shot of the experimental vaccine.

Putin did not say which of his daughters had obtained the vaccine but said that on the day of her first shot, she had a temperature of 38C and then fell to 37C the next day.

During the second dose, he said she had a small rise in temperature but now she is ‘feeling fine.’ He announced that she was receiving a ‘high number of antibodies.’

The next step of the experiments would include thousands of subjects, generally known as a Phase III experiment. There are more than 100 potential Covid-19 vaccines currently being formulated around the world according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

This stage of Phase III is usually considered to be a necessary prerequisite before a vaccine can be approved by law and administered worldwide.

Putin speaking today said: ‘I think it works pretty well, it forms deep immunity, and I repeat, it has passed all the requisite tests.’

Vaccine production is a ‘very important step for the world’ according to Putin.

In Tuesday’s announcement the Health Ministry said the vaccine is supposed to have up to two years of immunity from coronavirus.

Putin has stressed that vaccination will be optional and that the first to be inoculated would be emergency staff, nurses, and other classes in danger.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has praised Russia’s attempts to improve the vaccine and said the Philippines is ready to collaborate with Moscow on vaccine research, procurement, and development.

Duterte offered to “be the first on which they could experiment.”

“I’m going to inform President Putin that I have a great deal of faith in your experiments in fighting COVID and I think the vaccine you’ve created is very promising for humanity,” Duterte said, adding that he thinks Russia’s vaccine should be ready for the Philippines by December.
