City took a one-point lead into the final game of the season, meaning Liverpool needed to beat Wolves and Pep Guardiola’s side had to slip for them to have a chance at lifting the Premier League title.

The Reds looked to have blown their chance as Pedro Neto put the visitors ahead after three minutes at Anfield but Sadio Mane pulled them level.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa, managed by former Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, handed Jurgen Klopp’s side a lifeline with Matty Cash’s opener at the Etihad but City still had the advantage heading into the second half.
Phillipe Coutinho made it 2-0 for Villa and left City’s title dream in ruins, but in one of the most remarkable endings to a Premier League season, the Manchester club scored three goals in the space of five crazy minutes to get over the line extraordinarily.
But Ilkay Gundogan sparked an astonishing City revival as the German midfielder reduced the deficit before Rodri grabbed the equalizer.
Gundogan turned in City’s third goal in the space of five minutes in the 81st minute, triggering wild celebrations and rendering second-placed Liverpool’s 3-1 victory against Wolves irrelevant.
